In 2010 Ruth Lambeth, the director of Mwenya Uganda in the UK reported thick, stiff syringes made for horses being used as dental syringes in some clinics in Uganda. Mwenya Uganda always needs more needles and syringes, for a small price, you can make a huge difference.

Uganda has the highest rate of malaria in the world, with a shocking 478 cases per 1000 people. Doing something as simple as using a mosquito net hugely decreases the chance of being bitten by mosquitoes and contracting the disease. The mosquito nets you buy will be given out through our clinics in the areas that most need them, for free.

£40 buys 200 toothbrushes.
35% of the Ugandan population will have to work for 4 hours just to be able to afford to buy a toothbrush for themselves. Living on $1 a day is not enough to keep a roof over your head and feed yourself, let alone buy a toothbrush or toothpaste. The toothbrushes you buy will be given out for free at the Mwenya Uganda educational workshops and to patients in the clinics.

Donate Equipment

Are you a dental, medical or teaching organisation or company? Do you have excess of a certain type of equipment, maybe you over ordered, have old stock or are having a clear out and want your resources to go to a good cause. You have just found it! Mwenya Uganda was originally set up so that Ruth Lambeth (UK Director and dental student) could send dental and medical equipment out to the team in Uganda to help them carry out their work in the safest and most efficient manner.

At the moment, the dental and medical equipment being used in most of Uganda is very old and sometimes totally inappropriate for the job – Ruth reported dental mirrors without mirrors and horse injections being used in the mouth, which evidently makes treatment very hard and also very painful for the patient. Not only this, but the medical supplies are also extremely limited. So we need your help!
